What is DERV / white diesel?

DERV stands for ‘Diesel Engine Road Vehicle’, but is often used to describe the fuel many of us know as diesel fuel. But it does have other names such as diesel fuel, white diesel, road diesel and ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD).

The name ‘Diesel’ comes from the inventor of the diesel engine, Rudolf Diesel, a German inventor who is credited with the invention of the very first diesel engine. In fact, the fuel we now know as diesel could have been something altogether different since Diesel’s early engine was designed to run on coal dust, vegetable oil and peanut oil.

Where to buy bulk diesel in the UK?

When it comes to buying diesel, the average person never has to travel more than a few miles to top up their vehicles at a petrol station. With over 8300 petrol stations dotted around the UK, it should be easy to find one, wherever you are.

However, most problems for businesses arise when they need access to diesel fuel for static machinery and those unable to operate on public roads. Under current legislation, you are only able to fill vehicles directly from the petrol pumps or take away no more than 20 litres of fuel in a suitable container.

Order quantities from 1,000 litres – 36,000 litres+

So long as you already have a suitable and safe fuel storage tank onsite, or plan to install a fuel storage tank which meets current regulations, we can deliver any quantity of diesel fuel you require, directly to your business anywhere in the UK.

The minimum delivery quantity by tanker is 1000 litres, but we can deliver up to 36,000 litres in our large fuel tankers. If you need more, we can simply send more fuel tankers to ensure you get all the fuel you need.

Buying large quantities of diesel fuel is a great way to unlock savings on the cost of your fuel. It also ensures your fleet of vehicles always has the fuel it needs.

Diesel also available in 250-litre / 45-gallon drums

Of course, if you don’t have suitable storage facilities for diesel on your premises for one reason or another. Or maybe your use case requires your on-site DERV supply to be more mobile, we can supply smaller quantities in 205-litre / 45-gallon drums upon request.

Then once you’ve used up the fuel in the barrels, we can either collect them from you or top them up again if you still plan to use the barrels to store your DERV stocks. Just let us know and we’ll do the rest.
