What is DERV / white diesel?

DERV stands for ‘Diesel Engine Road Vehicle’, but is often used to describe the fuel many of us know as diesel fuel. But it does have other names such as diesel fuel, white diesel, road diesel and ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD).

The name ‘Diesel’ comes from the inventor of the diesel engine, Rudolf Diesel, a German inventor who is credited with the invention of the very first diesel engine. In fact, the fuel we now know as diesel could have been something altogether different since Diesel’s early engine was designed to run on coal dust, vegetable oil and peanut oil.

Where to buy bulk diesel in the UK?

If you have onsite storage facilities for storing diesel fuel safely and you are looking to buy bulk amounts of diesel, fuel companies like Birlem Oil are the safest option for purchasing large quantities of fuel.

So long as you already have a suitable and safe fuel storage tank onsite, or plan to install a fuel storage tank which meets current regulations, we can deliver any quantity of diesel fuel you require, directly to your business anywhere in the UK.

The minimum delivery quantity by tanker is 1000 litres, but we can deliver up to 36,000 litres in our large tankers. If you need more than 36,000 litres, we can simply send more fuel tankers to ensure you get all the fuel you need, or can supply smaller quantities in 205-litre drums upon request.
